SYSEXPLR.EXE-APPLICATION(0xc0000005)

After installing SP2, when I boot my PC the above show with the following
message "The application failed to intialize properly(0xc0000005)"

I have experienced that with my five attempts to install SP2 - three
using WU and two using the full installer, which I burned into a CD.
Up to now, nobody has come up with an explanation for 0xC0000005, and
I can't find anything relevant on the Knowledge Base.
