Downloaded and ran the KB926068. It did not ask me where to save the files
and I can't figure out where it put them if it did.
Have extracted the deploy.cab in system32. The version of the sysprep.exe
is 5.2.3790.3959. Do I have the right version for SP2?

c:\sysprep is the folder, where all the extracted files have to be stored.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
contains the version for SP2.

so this means, you want to run sysprep to deploy servers (non Domain
controllers)?
http://technet2.microsoft.com/window....mspx?mfr=true
states, that you find the tool in
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
is the one for Windows Server 2003 SP2.

Typo?
In the deploy cab you find also a help file, which may explain some details
about the howto use sysprep.

I downloaded and ran the file from yoiur 2nd link. That didn't ask me to
save files.
What I did was clone a virtual Win2K3 SP2 server and needed to change the
SID. I was told sysprep was what I needed to run.
The version of sysprep I ran was the one from the RTM release. When I do My
Computer | Properties I don't see the "Automatic Updates" and "Remote" tabs.
Do I need to reapply SP2 or is there another action I need to take?

not sure what took away the tabs, but reapplying the service pack may help.
For sysprep:
Create a folder C:\Sysprep. This path is mandatory to get it working.
Unpack all files from deploy.cab into that folder.
Run Setup Manager in this folder to create a sysprep.inf fitting to the
wanted configuration.
Finally run sysprep.
You may also check this KB article, as the procedure is the widely same as
for Windows XP:

XP"

The missing tabs magically appeared the next day. Thanks for the help.
