System hang on installation of SP2

I've tried installing SP2 a number of times and the same thing happens on
each occasion. I've downloaded SP2 and begun installation, it checks current
configuration, and available space. When it reaches creating cabinets, the
computer hangs. SP2.cab is under the progress bar at this point. There is
no option but to press the reset button as nothing can unfreeze the system.

Any suggestions?

Your computer needs to be updated. Check your current video drivers. Check
your hardware drivers that they are up to date. For older computers systems
the sp2 will not work with older softfware programs. People that have
laptops do not need to update to sp2. sp2 is for security only. Hope this
