System Hangs after installing updates

Used windows update last nite to install latest high priority patches. Now
windows explorer hangs when I try to click the [+] box next to "my computer".
This was working fine before I installed the updates. Question: How do I
uninstall the updates and fix this problem?

I had the same issue, but far more severe.

Mike, over in the IE newsgroup posted the following:

1. Go to Start --> Control Panel --> Add or Remove Programs
2. Make sure the "Show updates" box at the top is checked.
3. Find Security Update for Windows XP (KB908531) and click it.
4. Click the Remove button.
5. Click Finish to restart computer.

This fix restored IE and all of my Office applications to normal
functionality.

This patch is fairly important. Instead of uninstalling it, try
uninstalling HP Share-to-web application instead. If you have this
problem and don't have HP software, please let me know.

How do you remove the HP software..????
I have a HP scanner but do not know about Web Share ???

If you have a look in Control panel (add or remove programs) you should have
a program called HP Share to Web. In my experience uninstalling this fixes
the problem with the KB908531 update.
