I there.
I have bought an Acer PC which came pre-loaded with a 90 day trial version
of Norton Internet Security...
I decided i didn't want this software installed, and prefered to use my
VexiraAnti-virus...

Un-installing Norton and putting Vexira on seems to have caused major system
instability where the PC crashes very frequently..
I finally did a recovery from the hidden partition and left the Vexira AV
off..

The PC now runs like a dream, but i'm wondering what things Norton left
behind for it to clash like that and whether i should stick with Norton.

thanks for any replies,
dave

Hi,

There is the symclean tool from Symantec, but I understand that it has
caused some problems with networking in Vista. They may have updated the
tool to address this by now, I haven't checked.

Assuming that Vexira was a Vista compatible version, did the problems start
after uninstalling Norton's? Or after installing Vexira? While it's possible
that it may be a conflict with something left behind, it's also possible
that the problem was one of the new services installed by the new AV
program.

Thanks for the reply!!
Vexira is Vista compatible but the problems seem to start when this is
installed.
I've un-installed it and the system is now rock-solid...
I wasn't too pleased with the fact that Norton comes as part of the
install/recovery...doesn't give you much choice really...

Norton in house products like the antivirus is one of the WORSE software
ever built by man!!!!

Only Vista itself is worse...

At least you got rid of Norton... soon when your awareness grows, you will
abandon vista as well.

Good luck!

You are clearly mentally unstable Frank. No doubt about it. You prove
it with your daily mindless ranting and screaming. How does it feel to
be the fool you are Frank?
