System Restore gripe

One thing I REALLY hate about System Restore is that, more often than not,
when you try to uninstall a program, the RESTORE POINT that Windows has to
create before it tries to uninstall the program occupies much more space than
the program originally did. Maybe Microsoft can alleviate this problem in
their making of Windows 7? Weigh in on this and let me know what you think.

Get an operating system that doesn't have the problems that Windows has.
Check out Ubuntu at www.ubuntu.com. It's free and comes with access to
over 24,000 free programs.

When applications install, entries are placed in folders other than just the
program folder. ALL information relating to the installation has to be
accounted for..

I know that a System Restore Point may be created "before"
installing a program, but never heard of one created when
you uninstall a program.

Hello I have blogged about this and made a video

see this on how to recover lost space in vista>
http://computerboom.blogspot.com/200...n-windows.html

They cannot change that fact because its how system restore works.. however
there is another real GRIPE that you can understand if you read this page:

http://computerboom.blogspot.com/200...estore-in.html

Previous versions keeps track of all files, personal files too....
that's why in vista the system restore+ shadow copy take up HUGE space on
the disk! I have seen many people complain about lost hard disk space on
vista.

Use the disk cleanup utility to reclaim lost space

On vista unfortunately you cannot control system restore and
shadow copy separately...
The result is that shadow copy pushes the restore points out... and in the
end if you really need some restore points badly.. they are not there!

And the even MORE strange thing about vista, is that although ALL versions
of
vista keep track of all files with shadow copy, THE HOME EDITIONS CANT USE
THIS TO RESTORE FILES!!!!

See blog page for a work around using a freeware 3rd party software if you
have vista home editions
