General help:

If working correctly system restore should make daily reset points and
also when some event happens like when a new driver gets installed and
sometimes some updates and when you install new software. The idea
being if something goes wrong you can roll back to a time when things
were working.
What to you see if you type in system restore when clicking on the
Start Orb and typing that in the search box and clicking on the link
that comes up?
Example for me I see 9/18/2008 11:13:08 Installed Windows Update, so
there is a reset point at that time. Clicking on Open System
Protection should bring up the System Properties window. Click choose
a different restore point then next. Now you should see a list of the
restore points available. Do you? Click cancel.
How many restore points you see depends on how much space is set
aside. If you have little room set for system restore all but the last
one or two may get overwritten. If you see nothing in the above steps
you probably have this feature turned off.
