Ok heres my problem, everytime I shut my laptop down it resets my system
restore to "off" this is a fairly new problem that I've never run across
before. I've checked my available memory to see if maybe that was the cause
(too much shuts it down automatically from what I understand) but thats not
it, memory is 71% free. Ive also turned it on and off several times in an
attempt to rid it of any corrupt files but that does not work either. Any
suggestions?

The event log is where the system and applications log
extra information, if applicatble.
Type eventvwr.msc from the RUN box and press enter.
Click SYSTEM on the left, and you'll see the logged
messages on the right. For things pertaining to system
restore, the messages usually have a "source" of
srservice or similar.
If you find anything, double click the event for more info.
