System Restore won't work (again)

I had this problem once before where none of my Restore Points worked.
I shut off System Restore, then turned it back on again - then it
worked. That was 1-2 months ago. I just needed it and it exhibited
the same problem. Both times, it worked in Safe Mode only. But then,
I lost all my other Restore Points. Any suggestions?

I should have added that the message I received was that an unspecified
error had occurred.

If you are running Norton Internet Security 2009, go to Settings ->
Miscellaneous and turn off Product Security Tamper Protection until the
restore is complete.

If not, I know nothing...Sorry.

Thanks - but I'm not running Norton. I have Avira AV (free version). I
wonder if Avira interfers with System Restore?

No way. I've been using Avira for a couple of years now... no problem
whatsoever.

Though running XP SP3, I tried this in May, 2011. It worked. I was finally able to restore my system. I did 3 more restores until I got one I wanted. Thanks for the tip.
