System running and and slow startup

I have one questions but it is complex. First when I startup my comp it takes
forever to be able to do anything it was never like this before and this has
been going on for about a month now also when anything on the comp is running
meaning when you can hear the comp running the internet will not startup you
just get "not responding". It works fine as long as you hear nothing running.
I recently stop the indexing to help with the problem and now it does not run
as much but as far as startup and when windows defender is scanning the
internet will not work. Any ideas why and what I can do? I am running Windows
vista and this is a computer that is less than a year old?

What are your system specs?
Try run>msconfig>startup and look in there see if you can turn off some
programs running but dont need to run on start up you have to reboot after.
Google process library and check before you turn off.

Have to ask are you doing your regular maintanence clean up cookies,hitory
,defrag and so on also have you checked for spyware,maleware, adware,viruses.

Yes have managed all of those and have also reduced the startup progams.
