I have a Dell desktop dimension 2400... currently am running a 256 mg Ram
chip, I NEED a memory upgrade... I used a 'Staples' (Staples, the Computer
store) memory analyzer which told me that my system had 2 slots for memory
with a 2-gig max, and I was only running a 256 meg.
I printed it out (and found a sweet deal on DDR Ram chips at crucial.com)
but at the bottom of the Staples print-out there was an advisory :

"We recommend you upgrade your computer to the latest BIOS revision prior to
upgrading your memory."

What is that? How is it done? This Dell is about 4 years old, and I don't
game or do much with video... can anyone offer any tech tips that don't sound
like techno-babble? You know, "Upgrade For Dummies" I am not that green, but
I don't talk computer technology.

Anyone who can offer and worthwhile tech assistance or advice, please send a
message to

Thanks!

It's a Dell..
Thought about visiting the Dell website - their support section?

In your case:
http://support.dell.com/support/down...n&catid=&impid

Specifically (BIOS):
http://support.dell.com/support/down...id=-1&impid=-1

Selecting the download will lead you to a new page with the download and
instructions available.

As for the memory:
