Hi my name is Mike; i have a vista PC 32 bit. I took the PC back to th
factory settings as all the security software had been disabled, no
sure why but unable to rectify problem. Now i keep on getting th
message

\*windows\system32\winload32.exe
STATUS - 0X0000000F, THE SELECTED ENTR
COULD NOT BE LOADED BECAUSE THE APPLICATION IS MISSING O
CORRUPT
using the vista recovery disk, on more than one occasion, it ha
rectified the problem but only by taking it back to the last known goo
setting, i have had to use the system restore on more than one occasion
This has worked BUT when you shut the computer down and reboot it fail
to load and you have to go through the above procedures. So basicall
the problem is not resolved. I have read some forums that suggest it i
malicious software or a problem with a windows update, possibly one tha
starts with the KB letters. This seems to ring a bell as when i hav
installed updates after taking it back to the factory settings it ha
caused the PC not to load and display the above error, it asks for me t
install approx 70 important updates for the PC. Has anyone else hear
of the problem with updates causing problems, is there a conflict wit
Vista

Hi,

Winload32.exe is a worm, so your pc is either not clean or has carried
remnants from the prior installation. The message seems to indicate that the
file is missing, which is good, so what you likely have is a load entry
trying to locate it. You can use a tool like autoruns to locate and remove
the offending entry.
