I have tried several System Restore Points and they all fail.

What would be some the reasons that make them fail.

I have Norton Internet Security so don't believe there are are any viruses
or Trojans.

Thank You

Maybe thats the problem, you need to disable your AntiVirus (Norton Internet
Security) program in the first place before running System Restore.

I have used system restore several times, when "testing so as to see what
would happen", always and without fail the restore functionality has worked
perfectly.

I have used System Restore on Vista Home Premium several times, usually
after foolishly running a registry cleaner, and the system restored
perfectly every time. On the other hand I had tried both Norton and McAfee
Bloatware and had nothing but problem all of which disappeared as soon as I
uninstalled them.

Sometimes System Restore will fail to work after you have defragged your
HDD.

To fix it you need to turn off System Restore, Reboot, and then turn it back
on

I had the same problem this week with a new Vista Home PC - found a post
elsewhere that the issue is Norton related and apparently doesn't happen
with McAfee (not tested by me). Workaround - start PC in Safe Mode -
via F8, then apply the restore point and then restart normally. Worked
for me.
