When I am at work I am able to get new display pics, backgrounds, winks &
emoticons when I opt to change any of them. However when I try at home I only
get whats available on my PC. Can anyone explain this to me?

I am also ony seeing the contacts Tab at home.

???

Greetings,

Assuming this is the same account, it sounds like you're not able to connect to the Messenger
web configuration service at home which would block all these features from working.

If you have a third-party software firewall at home, I'd suggest disabling or even completely
removing temporarily to see if that is the actual problem (it usually is).

Thank you for the advice but it did not change. I am not sure if I
explained the problem correctly so let me try again.
Lets say I am in an IM conversation, when I click on the Emoticon, Winks, or
Background link at work I am able to see and download new ones but at home
all I get are those on my PC. To get new ones at home I have to visit the
website.
Also at work I see multiple Tabs (Love&Relationship, Alerts, etc.) while at
home I only see one Tab, the one that shows my contacts.

Hi,

I understood you correctly then. The feature's you're describing are different per locale.
As such, when you connect to Messenger, it connects to a configuration web service which
downloads the necessary information for your locale for these features.

If Messenger can't connect to the web service, then it will still work, but there will be no
tabs, specialized services (like downloading new emoticon, winks, etc.) or other specialized
functions.

My original post still stands.

Hi,

No problem -- hopefully you can sort out why you can't connect to the web service.

The problem was solved indeed. It definitely has to do with ones locale. I
adjusted my regional settings and it worked.
Thank you very much again, kind Sir.
