almost 3 three hours before shutting down. Then when i started it up it sat
at installing update step 3 of 3 89% for at least another 3 hours before
starting up and now it cant install anymore updates and does this everytime i

And the operating system is?
Where did you get IE 9?

Assuming it's Vista and possibly IE8, perhaps something useful here:
The update is not installed successfully, you receive a message, and the
computer restarts when you try to install an update in Windows Vista

For those who are unfamiliar with System Restore in Vista - see Using System
Restore from the Vista Windows Recovery Environment

Internet Explorer 8 takes longer than expected to start:

sorry i forgot to put that, i have windows vista and i got it straight from
the microsoft website when it was released. and i have never gotten an error
message is the thing. it works fine, it just goes to the configuring windows
everytime i turn it off and installing updates when i turn it on. the only
error i get if any is where it should say updates available it says Cannot
update click here for solutions and it bring me to the update page but doesnt
update anything and ends with saying there was an error.
