I turned on my computer this morning and when I right click the tool bar at
the bottom of the screen the "task Manager" is grayed out. I tried MS help
for vista and it when the program was attempted to start it says the
administrator has this locked out. I only have one user on this machine and I
am set as the adminstrator. Does anyone know how I have to reset this so I
can gain access to the task manager?
Thanks

Hi Brian,

This will show you how to enable the Task Manager again. Be sure to
run a full virus and anti-spam scan on your computer to be safe. This is
a symptom of a few of them.

Shawn, thanks for the quick resonse.
I tried resetting the task manager and it was alreaded disabled so it should
be working. I have AVG antivirus and Windows defender running as well.
Neither have detected a problem. scans are done daily. So I setup a guest
account and the guest account can access the task manager but the admin
cannot. I tried the links as through for "group" and checked it in regedit
both are set for "disabled"
Any ideas?
Thanks

You could try good, old fashioned, Alt-Ctrl-Del, and lick on Task Manager
from there if that works.

Shawn, I found the problem, it was related to changes in the registry. I
simply did a repair and took the registry back about 5 days. This removed the
registry problem and I now have my task manager back and operational.
Thanks again
