taskbar and desktop icons disappearing!

For some reason, when I log onto my account on my computer, my taskbar and
desktop icons disappear. I have restarted and shut down the computer multiple
times, but each time I log on, my taskbar, which is at the bottom, and my
desktop icons, which are on the top, will appear for not even a minute and
then vanish and all that I am left to see is my wallpaper. When I click
around on the wallpaper, nothing pops up and when I press keys on the
keyboard, nothing comes up either. The only way I am able to get onto the
internet is by pressing CTRL+ALT+delete to get to the task manager and type
in "new task" the website I want to go to. The only thing that I can think of
that might have had something to do with this was when I had to spy sweep my
computer. After it had finished sweeping, the taskbar started to "refresh"
itself by disappearing for a moment, then reappearing. Now, the task bar just
disappears all together along with the desktop icons. I am really confused
and I am not very good with this stuff, so if anyone can help at all, it is
really appreciated. Thank you.

Try doing a system restore to a time before it all mucked up:
run task manager Ctrl+Alt+Del > new task .....
enter the following in the box

c:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

this will bring up the restore window, chose a date prior to the problem

rgds

OOPS! this is intended for XP not sure if it will work with Vista,
better wait for the Vista boys to verify if it is OK.

a Spy sweeper program will not find adware and spyware, not a virus. are
you running any antivirus program ? It sounds like explorer is crashing,
except that is usually accompanied by an error dialog box. What Spyware
software are you using? what antivirus? what 3rd party software do you
have installed on your profile that is not showing up in your sisters
profile. ?
