Ok, so I know how to select the option for button grouping on the taskbar,
but when I check it, nothing happens. Well, I take that back, a check mark
appears in the little box, but nothing actually productive happens. What am
I doing wrong? I'm using Vista 32-bit.

Hi Shawmino,

This is for multiple open files for the same program to organize them
into one taskbar button.

See:
'Windows Vista Help: Group similar buttons on the taskbar'

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I don't think you're doing anything wrong, except perhaps not opening
enough Windows to warrant grouping.

To check if grouping is on, press <WINKEY>+<E> a couple of times to
open Windows Explorer. If grouping is on, when you have done this a
couple of time, the buttons should consolidate into a group until you
close enough of them to warrant individual buttons again.

That does help. I guess I just figured that 2 buttons was enough to be
grouped, but I realize I was horribly mistaken. Thanks for the tip!
