Taskbar won't display at all when set to autohide

After most recent update of Windows, I am having trouble getting the taskbar
to work as it did before. Previously, I had autohide selected so that
whenever I was working in a particular window, the taskbar would be hidden.
When I needed it again, I just moved the cursor to where the taskbar usually
sits and it would reappear. Now, the taskbar is hidden all the time and
won't reappear even when I move my cursor to where it usually is.

Move the mouse cursor slowly towards the bottom of the screen until it turns to a double arrow
then click and drag the taskbar up. Try all four sides of the screen to see if the taskbar has
been moved to another side of the screen.

Press Ctrl-Esc to expose the taskbar and Start menu.
