I can 'tear off' tabs from the windows of the latest Mozilla Firefox and
Google Chrome browsers, but I can't with Internet Explorer 8.0.
Please make it a feature with IE8.1. And did you know about the, should I
say opposite, of Tearing off a tabs - it's the 'Submerge' - to submerge an
open window into another - in order that it goes on to become another tab in
the target window. This feature is not present in Firefox, Chrome or Opera
even, it's from my imagiation! If you can implement this, it's going to be
awesome!

Watch out for more great Feature Requests from me!
I've always been - and am a Microsoft Internet Explorer fan since the
Netscape days. I love IE.

Hi Ryan,

You can draw the attention of MS full time staffers at
connect.microsoft.com.

Register and submit your feature request in the IE8 Beta feedback if you
want your suggestions to be heard at Redmond. You can also vote on other
Feature requests as can other ppl on yours. MS considers feature requests
based upon (other things) their popularity as voted by other registered
connect users.

It may be though that some of the features that the other browsers offer are
patented, (to prevent IE adopting them). We are probably looking at another
year or two before the next IE version will be released.

Other ppl have looked at implementing tear-away tabs in IE8 with Addons. The
current IE design though seems to make this impossible to implement as an
Addon. A big consideration is Security, which the other browsers do not take
into account.

Win7 has task bar previews which sorta makes tear-away tabs redundant for
that platform.

Regards.

Before they do this I hope they at least let us do something useful
when a link is dragged to the New tab button.

Currently you can simulate what you are asking for using the Ctrl-k
and Ctrl-N keyboard shortcuts or simply by dragging links to another
tab.
