Hi, I received a question from a reader and find it quite baffling. After I
laughed out loud, and wrote him back trying to decide if this guy was
serious, he says it is a real problem. Anyone ever heard of this?

Here's the message:

Hi Joli, when I try to send the cam or have a conversation with someone else
on windows live messenger, my camera picture does not appear. Instead I
begin broadcasting a television show that I assume is coming from my media
center edition inside my computer. I don't use it often but I did set it up
with my cable tv and I can watch tv through the media center when I want to.

Ideas? Joli

Yes, have him set the video source to be the webcam and not the TV tuner.

Go to: TOOLS||Audio and Video Setup

and then go through the setup routine selecting the correct video source.

I have used this to send a tv station to someone from my tv tuner so she
could watch a show with me... lol

its just a video output device, just like a webcam.. no big deal, or mystery
about it.

Hi, I'm the fellow with the problem, its not the simple answer some of you
suggest. I already went through the audio/video settings under tool. When
Ig et to the webcam part of the wizard, my camera is set correctly, and is
showing on the wizard test screen.

But then when I go under tools to webcam settings, I do not see my webcam,
but rather a tv show. So one part of messenger is set up correctly, while
another part of messenger is broadcasting the same thing. Its not a simple
matter of choosing the correct video input.

Perhaps there is a choice somewhere in media center that is affecting this?
