Temporarily Disabling Delivery of Windows Server 2003 Service Pack

I have automatic updates disabled on all my servers via group policies (GPO).
Can I assume that this too will block the installation of SP1? I have this
disabled under "Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Windows Update"

The help on this setting says:-- "If the status is set to Disabled, any
updates that are available on the Windows Update Web site must be downloaded
and installed manually by going to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com."

you are answering my question with my question with where my questiopn
started!!!

Do I need to deploy this stupid hack to hundres of servers or will my GPO
block have the same result?

Either method is fine. SP1 runs just fine on all the
Windows 2003 Servers' I've updated.

I wish SP1 was ok on my servers. Issues related to KB898060 mean that I
cannot deploy for a while - we have quite a lot more QA/tetsing to do with
this hotfix.

Hi,

If you have Automatic Updates disabled, SP1 for Windows Server 2003
will not automatically be installed (but it will not stop you from
being able to install it manually yourself if you want to).
