What is the term used to describe a replacement hard drive from a
manufacturer which already has the OS and other software installed on it?
Someone told me it was "bricked" but that doesn't sound right.

I have never heard of such a term, though when I load a software image onto
a hard drive I call it ... "imaging". ;-)

"Bricked" refers to a device which has been damaged, usually by unwise or
un-recommended techniques being applied to it ... think "turned into a
brick" ...

I've always seen the term bricked used to mean totally dead.
I certainly wouldn't request one of those from the manufacturer!

No - "bricked" is what you do to a male camel to increase its intake of
water....
