Texting Internation Mobile Devices

I want to send a message to the mobile device of a contact in a foreign
country from Windows Live Messenger (WLM). However, I'm having trouble
getting WLM to accept the Mobile Device number. If I click Change Number,
the correct country code is showing on the left, and so I enter the
remainder of the number into the box on the right (assuming WLM doesn't need
to 011 portion).

But when I click Save, instead of accepting it, it gives me an error message
that says, "The mobile device information you entered for this contact is
not valid for sending text messages." I get the same result with other
international cell numbers as well.

QUESTION:
What is the trick to getting Windows Live Messenger to accept an
international mobile device number? Thanks.

Hi Philip et al.,

I was wondering if you've conquered this problem as I have run into it as well (trying to text someone in France and can only get as far as "the mobile device information you entered for this contact is not valid for sending text messages")
