Regarding problem resolution of 2/7/2006 - This is a belated thank you for
your help. You asked what file/fix corrected the situation. Actually, after
running the Malicious Removal Pgm. and do everything "manually", i.e.,
removing files and re-installing these back in. The situation(s) have not
re-appeared. Consider this a note of appreciation.

Thanks!

YW.

In your last reply to that thread (http://snipurl.com/mws8), you wrote:

In my reply, I pointed you to http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=910339.

May we assume that you manually uninstalled the update, downloaded the
update from Windows (Update) Catalog, and then manually installed it?

You are absolutely right in your assumption. I have also responded and given
credit to Jupiter, who provided me with the link:
<http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/828026.htm>
To recap, the file 910339 which you pointed for me to follow was the one that
explained why I had a problem, specifically, I uninstalled WMP9 and installed
it back{followed the procedures provided by Jupiter on abopve link].
Proceeded to install the Update KB828026 from the catalog and things are
working fine now.

One last question, why is it that Update 828026 does not show as Windows
Update in the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs? Just bear with me, since
I'm new at this.

Thanks again.

Update 828026 is not a Windows item, and thus you will not see it listed as such. The update is a Windows Media Player item.
It does not show on my system's Add-Remove list either. (except, for an un-numbered entry on Windows Media Player)

Good evening: I believe you are asking what is it that Maurice said.
Basically, he was answering a question which I had for you, at the very end
of my post on 2/24/2006, i.e., Why is it that Windows Update KB828026 does
not show as an update in the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs? Maurice's
post outlines the reason.

Thanks again!
