Sorry For This Lengthy Response, I Know Your Time Is Valuable, I Appreciate
Any & All Help. Just Want To Be Complete As Possible.
Jupiter Jones/PA Bear: I Already Tried Update Troubleshooter. It Says The
Issue,
When attempting to access the Windows Update...Thank You -- you
must be running...to use windows update, Applies To Windows 2000 & WindowsXP.
My OS Is Windows ME, But Tried It Anyway. I Do Not Have A Fire Wall
Installed At This Time, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Or Otherwise. I Deleted The Reg Key,
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Internet
Settings\User Agent\Post Platform
Before I Posted This Issue. It's A Single User PC And Not Connected To
A Network Of Any Kind and I Don't Use A Proxy. Further More,
Windows Was Installed Using A Retail Full Version Windows ME CD.
Not A Beta And Not An Upgrade CD. Already Checked Or Tried Everything Listed
In Windows Update Checklist With No Luck. I'm Running IE6 and Can Reinstall
All
Components Without Error Even After Deleting The Windows Update Folder.
In Internet Options I Added,
http://www.microsoft.com,
http://*.microsoft.com,
And
http://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com To The Trusted Sites
Zone And Unchecked Require...https Check Box. I Have
Thought All Along My Problem Could Be In The Reg Key,
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Internet
Settings\5.0\User Agent,
But Have No Reference To Work From. The Complete Sting Looks Like This,
User-Agent=Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Win32).
If This Is Not Correct Can Someone PLEASE Tell Me How It Should Read?
Robert Aldwinkle: KB817144 Article Covers Steps Already Taken As Mentioned
Above.
fiddlertool.com Gave This Feedback,
Type = IE5
Name = IE
Version = 5.5
Major Version = 5
Minor Version = 0.5
Platform = Unknown
Is Beta = False
Is Crawler = False
Is AOL = False
Is Win16 = False
Is Win32 = True
Supports Frames = True
Supports Tables = True
Supports Cookies = True
Supports VBScript = True
Supports JavaScript = True
Supports Java Applets = True
Supports ActiveX Controls = True
It Seems It Can't Determine My Platform.
I Reinstalled Windows Without Error.
Still Have The Same Problem. Any Ideas?
Again, Thank You All For Your Time And Efforts!
