When I send an e-mail attachment of one of the picture/videos I made with ms
windows movie maker the recipients are getting blank boxes with squares in
them and are unable to either hear or see what i have made. They work
perfectly fine on my toshiba L45-S7409 with Vista home basic. Any Ideaswhat i
can do? shouldI try an earlier version of MS WMM?

They need the 'codec' you used to make the file.

Using codecs:

Sounds like you may be sending the .mswmm
project files which do not include the source files.

If you publish the project as a movie and send it
as a .wmv or .avi ...your recipients should be able
to view them with Windows Media Player.

Windows Vista -
Publish a movie in

There are 2 problems.
1) you MUST give the source files along with the MSWMM file and do that in a
way that the directory structure remains intact
2) There is incompatibility between the MSWMM of Vista and that of earlier
versions..

Vista can open all earlier versions, but earlier versions of Movie Maker
(like that on xp for example) cannot open Vistas MSWMM.

The key word here is publish. I was saving the work and trying to send that.
needless to say "PUBLISH first" should be the first troubleshooting response
for a beginner, I didn't know what a codec was so the MS official help was a
bit complicated, so MARK of MS try a little more basic at the beginning and
thank you john inzer. And as far as "Onthe bridge" why dont you tell us how
you really feel! thans guys, made for some interesting and elightening
reading. every thing is cool now..

Mark it is much more simple to say "make sure you are PUBLISHING first to
ensure you have common extension". I was saving project and trying to send
that. Didnt work, right, duh......... but I learned a lot about other stuff
with the links you gave me.
