Download EVEREST from
www.lavalys.com and run the program.
It will scan your system and report such details as the
motherboard and BIOS details and the types of memory
installed. You can use that information to look-up the
manuals and details about your system to learn whether the
mobo will support more RAM, the size of the hard drive, etc.
You can also got to
www.crucial.com and they have a memory
finder that will tell you what memory they sell that will
work in your computer.
Since you are using W98 you may be seeing the "resources"
and not memory. In Windows 98 there are small 64 KB
registers called "resources" that keep track of open
programs and memory allocation (this limited system was done
away with NT/2000/XP which can use all the memory required,
this is one of the improvements). When you run low on
resources the BSOD is very likely.
You might want to go to
www.pcpitstop.com and run the XP
Upgrade readiness test (it is also on the XP CD). Your
computer might be a good candidate for an upgrade to XP
(about $100).

|I am using my computer more and more and have already went
