Is there a way to remove SP2 that won't get me fired?

I just updated windows XP professional on my desktop at work with SP2.
Aftwerwards, I was told that was a bad idea because SP2 has issues with the
software we use. I was just wondering if there was an easy way to get rid of
the update that won't cause me to lose all the data on my machine...
