microsoft is too chicken to come in the newsgroups...
If they do they will be burried from complaints from thousands of people...
So they have found a smart way to get other people to do the dirty work.
They chose some people and call them MVP's, so they will do all the work
for free....

How generous of them.. they are even picky on who they choose ....

So what happens is you get good help from MVPs but you cant accuse them or
yell at them for the crap microsoft does..
because they dont really work for microsoft..... I am sure Bill Gates
thought of this....
Its a very clever double sided plan.

So the best you will get is an MVP and us mortal humans....

what is the problem?

Greetings,

That really isn't how the MVP program was designed nor intended but it certainly can be seen
that way by just looking at what happens.

Actually though, some MVPs are highly leveraged by their prospective product groups for
feedback and assistance for their product. Am I? I think you can answer that based on
observation.

My question (as for a lot of people too) is posted here (Contacts doesn't
appear online OR Problem of adding new contact, this one posted by Wense).
The facts are:

(first message)

"Hello everyone
I'm using the new version of MSN, witch I love (using since the first beta
release as invite from Microsoft) but I have a bug to share.
A great part of my contacts doesn't appear online to me (even knowing they
are online such as my brother connected on the computer by my side).
Why this happen? Any fix to this is available?
Thanks for any answer.
Diego
Curitiba - Brazil"

(second message)
"Hi, I just got a problem of adding new contact. When I add a new contact, it
does show in my contact list as "offline".However, the contact I added
doesn't receive my request and therefore she/he always appears offline in my
MSN.The new contact can see my status and talk to me.The problem is I don't
see he/she is online.
In the conversation window, it shows "XXX is not in your contact list. Click
here to add him or her now." I click but nothing happens.
I signed in Web Messenger and it shows the new contact is added in my
list. But on Live Messenger, it's totally a different issue.I'm not sure if
this relates to my computer setting or to the status of my account.
I tried to delete the contact and add it again. Same thing happens.
Hope get your response soon. Thank you!"

Can anyone help?

Hello... having seen the other MVP's... I have to say that you are one of
the best...

Not only because you know your stuff.... but because you are always polite
and have a tempered attitiude even if people like me are annoying from time
to time... :-)

I admire that.... and I am sure other people do too.

Just to add a thought...

giving is good, offering your services is good too.... but try to think of
ways
to do that AND make some money at the same time...

I am sure Bill Gates would do that :-)

I think that if you find a smart way to produce income, then you can help
more people than if you did not do that....
In fact the money doesnt even have to come out of the pockets of the people
you are helping...
Thats the magic of it all....

Food for thought? Think big!

Hi John,

I am on the Windows Live Messenger team - I am a program manager, I write
for MessengerSays and sometimes I check out the newsgroups.

You made an excellent point - there should be more engagement in these
newsgroups from our team. I will ensure this gets addressed. I really
appreciate your feedback and I hope you continue to providing it.

Thanks a lot
Nicole

Hello Nicole...

its glad to see that there is a human side of Microsoft....
even if it comes from the individual (you) and not from above ;-)

Perhaps this is a missing piece of the puzzle...? The human aspect of it
all?

I think so...

I think MS should put a specialist team to read the newsgroups.... to see
what the common folk have challenges with...
then create solutions to solve or minimize these problems....

But you have to have a creative flexible mind in head of this... that also
knows technology... or a team of people
with different strong points...

What would be the result of this? No less than a revolution in quality,
streamlining and new ideas too.

Just like an organism has biofeedback that allows it to adjust.... the same
way a software organization must work.

Often the feedback will result in solutions and pathways that were
impossible to think of without the feedback.

My goal, it to make people understand and teach them how to use computers
better, release the stress and fear, to free them and to empower them with
knowledge...so they can use technology to further their abilities
productivity and creativity.
And I think... it will not only be the people that my efforts will be
effecting, but the software itself.

If you need anything, I am at your service.. you can contact me here:
