I had some problems with it with one of my clients, and that was mostly
driver related and networking stuff.
I just know that I was dead set against using Vista until I had to try it,
and have been, with a few exceptions pleasantly surprised. Yes it takes a
little effort to tweak. But since we are all individuals and have our own
tastes, what isn't? When I was doing Linux, I was a Gnome head. I absolutely
hate(d) KDE. And was CONSTANTLY tweaking that to suit my tastes. Now if ya
want to find a REAL bitch to set up, install Solaris for x86. Try finding
drivers for THAT. Was lucky to find em for my Adaptec 39160.
I think my most difficult set up, was a job I did down at DC Superior Court.
They brought in a Dell Web appliance. Had 2000 w/IIS for the web server,
backed by a RH/Inktomi traffic server, using an Oracle db server running on
top of a Solaris kernel. That job started with the dip that Dell outsourced
the hardware install to messing something up, and frying the backplane of
the external array. Went downhill from there...
So when people start griping about how tough it is, I tend to be like this
ain't ****, ya know? But then again, not all of us have technical
background, and just don't know how to do it. That's not a bad thing mind
you, just that the learning curve is different.
