are my folders (and email) still located on my hard drive, even though the
account has been deleted. if so, do you know how i can recover the folders?
using vista o/s. thank you in advance...

IMAP, or POP3 account? WLM deletes the local message store for POP3
accounts, so that email is lost if the account is deleted; unless you
copied/moved email to Local Store folders.

POP3 acct. when i created the acct 2 yrs ago, i did import
my old OE email into storage folders, for review. but i did
not think about using a storage folder for backup.

do you know if those undelete pgms would find/undelete the
individual folder names on my harddrive, in the typical
    AppData\Local\Microsoft|Windows Live Mail directory?

  4. About all you can do is try an undelete program and look for .eml files.
    This one is good: http://www.recuva.com/

They might. I used an emergency undelete program, once, to recover files I
thought I had copied to another drive, but had actually only copied to the
source drive. After which I performed a full format. It found a number of
the original files from areas not overwritten during the OS reinstall. Time
is critical; the longer you use the drive, the more likely the deleted file
space will be overwritten by new data.

I HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN EXCEPT IT WAS MY FAULT BASICALLY. I DELETED A
DUPLICATE ACCOUNT AND IT TOOK A HUGE # OF EMAILS WITH IT. I THOUGHT THEY
WERE GONE FOREVER. TODAY - 6 DAYS AFTER THE INCIDENT, I TRIED TO DO A
"IMPORT" AND TO MY SURPRISE I GOT ALL OF MY EMAILS BACK AS FAR AS I CAN TELL.
    HOPE THIS HELPS -

That is only applicable...if there was something available to import(from)
    - Outlook Express dbx files
    - Windows Mail files
    - Windows Live Mail files(usually previously exported or saved)
