    Hello,

I'm trying to figure out how to delete names from the drop
down list when I first sign-in to messenger. I'm running
    XP-Pro.

I let someone use my PC and now I have to scroll down to
my E-mail address to log in. How do I delete unwanted
names and is there a way to prevent this in the future?

    Thanks in advance!

there are 2 ways to do this

Go to Control Panel and open User Accounts. Click your name. On the left
pane under Related Tasks, click Manage my network passwords. Select each
email address you want to remove and click Remove.

If you remove "Passport.Net\*", you'll have to re-enter your email address
and password the next time you sign in.

    and

To get rid of extra names in the drop-down box...On XP Professional and XP
    Home ...

    Click START

    Click RUN

When you get the prompt, type in control userpasswords2

    Click the ADVANCED tab

Click Manage Passports and delete names you don't want.

    Reboot

    hope this helps

    Thank you Fiona!

I used the first option you gave and did it via the
    control panel.

    Thanks again!
