We keep getting obscene pop ups, one after the other and
the only way we can get out of it is to end task. Please
help, I know there must be a way to stop this. Thanks Gina

Assuming your antivirus is installed, working and up-to-date (If not, go to
    http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_corp.asp and check your
entire harddrive), download, install and run both Adaware
    (http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/) and Spybot
(http://www.safer-networking.org/) to make sure you don't have any adware or
spyware on your computer. Then turn off Windows Messenger, one of the main
sources of popups. Instructions to do this are found at
    http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsXP/pro/using/howto/communicate/stopspam.asp
.. Then download and install the Google toolbar (http://toolbar.google.com/)
a free and easy-to-use popup stopper.

mady's reply is excellent about adaware and sbybot. I would offer you
should use mozilla firebird as your browser, it has a built-in pop-up
killer and its excellent. I have found it to be compatible with 99% of
    the web pages.
    hope it helps
