Just venting or asking for help ?
If the latter, a bit more information might be helpful.

Afaik, unless configured differently in Hotmail web ui options, signing on to Hotmail web UI takes one to their Inbox.

Hotmail (now called Outlook.com) is a web UI and web based email client. Hotmail type accounts are also accessible via a variety
    of protocols (Pop3, Http/DeltaSync, EAS).

This newsgroup is for the desktop email client Windows Live Mail.
    - are you accessing your Hotmail account in Windows Live Mail using one of the above protocols ?

If not, go here for Hotmail support
