When I upgraded from IE6 ti IE7 my Internet Shortcut Icons defaulted back to
the generic Windows icon. It took several hours to reconstitute the icons as
they were customized in IE6. Anyone seen or had similar issues going from
    IE7-IE8?

    Thanks,

Personally - this is just me - I don't care if my internet shortcut
icons look like turds as long as they point to the right URL.

Personally......I think Microsoft should respect the aesthetics.......and
not just toss them carelessly down the shute when they upgrade a program
    that uses thousands of them!

    Hi,
Are you referring to website Favicons, or other icons you selected?

Just about all of them reverted to generic icons.....going from
IE6-IE7...even the ones that originally had the generic IE icons reverted to
    the generic Windows Icon.

This icon problem occurred enough times in the upgrade from IE6 to IE7 that
    there's an MSKB article.
930426- The default system icon is displayed for Internet shortcut files
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/930426

I had no icon problems going to IE7 or IE8, but there are no guarantees. I
have seen fewer reports of problems when going from IE7 to IE8 than from IE6
to IE7, but there are no guarantees that *your* icons won't change. ;-)
