I keep going through the process (five or six times now), but I continue to
be prompted to install them repeatedly. Err msg:

"Some updates could not be installed
The following updates were not installed:

Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB958620)
Security Update for Microsoft Office Word 2003 (KB956357)
Security Update for Microsoft Office Excel 2003 (KB958436)"

TIA for any help.

Start here : How to troubleshoot failures updating your Office installation
from the Office Update Web site
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304498

Or if there are any specific error codes, please make a note of the same and
post back.

I have the same exact problem. It started 12/10/2008 in the update history
list. I cannot load any one of them individually not collectively.

I get an error 52F. Trying to track this down I get into WAN type comments
about servers, etc. This is on a stand alone computer.

John,

Finally got the three updates to install. Had to do all 13 steps of the
procedure of KB304498 as shown in the link by TaurArian. The last step did
the trick. That 13th step is related to the "Local Installation Source" which
was mentioned in one of the articles I read about the error 0x52F which my
updater reported. I had not tried the process in that article as it discussed
only enterprise systems and my computer is stand alone. You may want to just
try step 13 first as it takes quite a while to go through the whole list.

Make sure you have your install CD or know where the source is on your
network, as that is required both for the Detect and Repair and the LIS
reinstall.

I'm assuming you are referring to Office 2003?
Neither you nor the OP have advised what operating system you both are
using.

For the 52F error - Office Update fails to Install with error 0x52F
http://update.microsoft.com/windowsu...=en&IsMu=False

Hi TaurArian,

My apologies for not giving more info. In a prior post I reported that I was
able to fix the problem.

In my case I have Office 2003 running on Vista 64 Home Pro. Problem is fixed
for me.

Thanks for updating the thread BuckeyeTom. As you realise now it's important
to state the operating system as Vista and Windows XP handle updates
differently.

Pleased the problem has been rectified.

My apologies, too. Thought I was in a Windows XP subcategory.

Method 2 seems to have fixed it for me.

Thanks TaurArian and BuckeyeTom.
