Time to air some of Microsoft's dirty laundry

The fanboy monkeys are busy trying to defend Microsoft's dropping the
ball on drivers for printers and scanners for Vista. As you we all
know, getting "service" from Microsoft as in a reply in next to
impossible.

Well... not if you happen to be on Microsoft's Board of Directors,
happen to buy new hardware, find out it don't work with Vista, then
you can bitch and get a reply from CEO Steve Ballmer and some
refreshing truth instead of the usual bullshit the public gets.

at Microsoft. The documents aren't that great a quality and reduced in
size, but still readable and they raise a few eyebrows.

If you don't care to read the whole thing, the response to Bill Veghte
from Ballmer confirms the smoking gun.

particularly bad thanks"

What this means is Ballmer is acknowledging that the drivers to be
included on the Vista DVD "are particularly bad" and we (Microsoft)
should do something about it to avoid confusion and ****ing off
customers and ending up, (what actually happened in the shipped
version) having broken drivers that did NOT fully support the full
feature set of many recently released printers and scanners that did
work in XP. This was to avoid what actually happened. People who had
recently bought new printers and scanners a few months to a year or so
before Vista's release now find they stuck holding the bag with
hardware that doesn't fully work under Vista that worked fine under
XP. It's one thing if some 5 year old hardware doesn't work, but
models that are 6 months to a year old? That's crazy. Of course they
should work with the new release of Vista.

Why not? You really have to ask?

Because they don't work under the new security model that was so badly
botched in Vista. That's why not.

In English Microsoft said screw the customer, let him buy a new
printer or scanner. It would have been nice if companies like Intel,
HP, Epson, etc., got their act together, but don't tell nobody, we
(Microsoft) didn't get our act together either, meaning the generic
drivers part of the Vista DVD while sometimes offering basic
functions, may not support the full feature set depending on make and
model. Microsoft knew. Read the emails.

Hey boys, I used to be an auditor. Digging up dirt and getting at the
truth was my JOB. This is only the tip of the iceberg. The entire
range of emails are very damning to Microsoft in what they knew about
what a bow wow Vista was in it's initial release. Yes they were going
to fix things, something things they tried to fix. The bottom line is
they didn't fix a lot of things and you the customer suffered because
of it. Microsoft doesn't care, neither to the moronic fanboys that
infest this newsgroup which is why they always attack posters that
reveal facts.

You actually get your scanner and printer drivers from MS? You do know
that MS DOES NOT write drivers for others hardware/software right?
It is up to the hardware/software manufacturers to write and provide the
appropriate working drivers for THEIR hardware/software.
So your analysis is based on a false premise that you seem to hold. So
it is not correct.
And I though you said NEVER use those drivers from MS updates, didn't you?
Anyway we didn't have to purchase any new peripheral hardware at my old
company nor for my personal use with Vista. We got Vista drivers from
Epson and Canon with no problems at all. During the beta, some companies
provided good workable drivers while other major companies like Creative
Labs didn't.
Sorry, but you are factually wrong in your analysis.

That is your personal opinion capin' crunch. You think things like being
able to delete the recycle bin is bad design, whereas most think it's a
good "feature".
But you seem to think everyone thinks like you and the fact is they don't.
You are in a very small minority with your personal opinion about Vista.
Live with it. Vista is the very best OS available today.
