I am trying to get MS Automatic Updates to operate as it should do – and to
check and install updates automatically.

I have adjusted the settings under: My computer / Properties / Automatic
updates for it to update every day at 10.00.

However it does not appear to operate and I have to check for updates
manually and then install them which it does. However, I am concerned I
could miss an update and it is also a laborious and time consuming process.

One of the problems seems to be a miss-match between the time set up under
the Control Panel setting (10.00) on my PC and that on the MS Automatic
Updates Page which is set to 03:00 and which I can't amend - or when I do
amend defaults back to 03:00.
