Time to pull the plug

I've brought up many new systems in my small XP network, and never had
any severe problems.

After a lot of very helpful stuff here, I have been able to resolve
some of the issues, but I don't have the time or enegy to reap the
very dubious "advantages" of Vista.

Does anyone have a simple, direct way to nuke vista on my new Compaq-
factory installed Vista with a lot of crapwae, so I can get back to
XP?

The same as always. Boot your XP CD, select format partition and
install XP.

Hi Grover--

I'd urge you to keep trying Vista, and let us help you with problems, but
all you have to do is put in the XP CD and it will format Vista off the box
and you can install XP.

Microsoft's Windows XP SP2 Professional Install step by step on a used hard
drive
http://www.windowsreinstall.com/winx...dhdd/index.htm

Whether you use XP Pro or Home and SP level doesn't matter for these
purposes.

Good luck,

CH

Make sure you can get XP drivers for everything in the computer that
requires them.

If you do not want Windows Vista on the new computer, return it and
order a computer with Vista.
Some OEMs and many local shops are offering computers with Windows
Vista.
Contact Compaq to determine if there are other options.
That is probably the easiest and cheapest.

Otherwise first verify all Windows XP drivers are available for your
new computer, some may not be.
Then purchase Windows XP, unless you already have it, and perform a
Clean Installation of Windows XP:

You've "brought up many new systems" in your small XP network? Never done an
XP install? That's all it takes.
