Your new Intel P4 CPU supports hyper-threading and
is being reported correctly.

Okay, so I have the exact opposite problem. HT is enabled in BIOS...P4
3.2ghz, the device manager shows two CPUs, but the task manager only shows
one.

I tried manually copying the NTKRNLMP.exe & halmacpi.dll into the system32
folder...then adding a line to the boot.ini (specifying the kernel and hal).
But using that HAL, the system tells me that it can't find a sys file in the
system32 folder.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? Over.

Any suggestions? Everywhere I look says that XP should auto detect the CPU
and enable the HT support.

Open Task Manager > Performance tab and from
the Toolbar select: View > CPU History > One graph per CPU.
