Toshiba e750 & WMDC 6.1

Anyone got this combo to work? Connecting via USB
gets the initial driver install, then an error:

"Changes to synchronization settings with Server
ActiveSync could not be made at this time"

WMDC shows Not Connected and a red Error
symbol and nothing else can be done. No partnership
ever gets set up.

Device can be browsed from Explorer.

HP hX2755 connects to same computer just fine.

e750 runs WM 2003 non-SE.

Already tried several soft resets.

Did a little research with Device Manager on this issue.

When my hx2750 is connected, I get ONE entry in Device
Manager under Portable Devices - description PocketPC.

When the e750 is connected, I get TWO entries - one under
Mobile Devices - description TOSHIBA Pocket PC e750 Series
and another under Portable Devices - description Windows
Mobile-based device.

I wonder if this is significant?
