This is not Windows Vista. BestBuy and the GeekSquad have worked their usual
"magic" again and wriggled out of supporting a customer. From your
description of the issue, it sounds like hardware failure. Probably the
network adapter (which is on the motherboard) is faulty. Take the machine
back and get it fixed and/or replaced.
