Hi,

My Toshiba A135 Windows Vista does not shutdown when on direct power.
When I attempt to shutdown, it completely shuts down and in 1-2
seconds restarts. This happens only when it is charging. If on battery
it shuts downs properly. Please help.

Manish

Sounds like a defect with the AC adapter, better contact Toshiba Support on
this one.

Hi Manish,

At the following site click on Download, select the exact model of the
computer in question and look for any updated power management drivers that
may be available.

The time you took to say that, you could have provided a better answer. But
I guess your answer would have even more dumber.

Hello all,

I am having the exact same issue here and almost at my wit's end.
I have a Toshiba Satellite a135-S4527 with Vista home premium and the
latest ACPI-compliant BIOS update. When the machine is on AC power and i
try to shut down, it will shut completely down and stay off for approx.
3 seconds, then power itself back up. When running on battery only, the
machine will stay shut down. All power management settings are properly
configured (default settings), hibernation is off, and there are no
"wake-on" settings in the BIOS that are not disabled. The event viewer
shows line after line of critical kernel-power problems (Event 41) and
the details pane is always the same, showing "The last Sleep transition
was unsuccessful". This is continuing to occur even though i have turned
off ALL sleep settings and triggers. Any thoughts on where to go next?
Thanks in advance for any help.
TN

If it is Intel based configuration/specs, you might just as well update the
chipset to conform with your bios update. take note of the current version,
and check this site
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filt...=163&submit=Go!
to find the latest version of the chipset.

Here's the latest update on this situation...

I am now thinking that this is most likely a hardware problem. I
removed the hdd, installed an empty drive and did a fresh install of
Vista Home Premium with SP1. As you can probably guess, the machine
exhibited the exact same symptoms. Also, I noticed that if the machine
"sleeps" it will not come back to a "wakeful" state. I have to hard-boot
it to get it to come back from sleep mode. If I tell it to hibernate it
will loop between hibernation and wakeful until i make it stop. The
machine has all the latest chipset updates and BIOS version.

I have this same problem myself with my A135 and was curious to see if you
had found a solution to this. It's driving me crazy.
