I have a new laptop, Toshiba, with Windows Vista. Where do I find in the
Control Panel the place to assign a behavior to the corners and borders of my
touchpad?

Thanks

Usually it's a tab on the Mouse Properties control panel applet.

If using the Vista control panel display (not Classic), look under the
Hardware and Sound group.

I have looked there and cannot find it, but I looked again this morning to be
sure. I had another computer of this same model and it was on that one.

Can you give me more ideas of where to look or what to do to fix the issue?

Thank you.

You might try putting Control Panel into Classic view - perhaps an applet
for the touchpad will be there as a standalone item.

Check with the manufacturer's update site, perhaps downloading the driver
will fix this.

I looked in the Classic View and saw nothing. I also downloaded the Touchpad
driver my Toshiba for my model of computer. Nothing there after the update
either.

Do you have any other suggestions? I know it is somewhere because my first
laptop just like this one (same Brand, same model) I was able to find it and
set it up.

Any further suggestions?

Thanks.

On my Toshiba it is in the taskbar on the bottom right portion of the
screen. If you put the mouse over the icon it will display Toshiba
Touch and Launch.

Thank you but I cannot find it there either. I called the retailer and I am
going to take it in so they can help me. Let post what they say and how it
was remedied.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Give this a try. It should be here.
Click Start or your Orb in Vista
Click Control Panel
Click on Hardware and Sound
Click on the word MOUSE(This is in category view)
Click on the Device Settings tab in the Mouse Properties window
In the Devices window make sure the TouchPad item is selected
Now click on the Settings command button
You will now want to click the plus sign beside Tapping then drill
down to Tap Zones, click the plus sign to expand list then select your
choice and you can figure the rest out from here I hope.
Best of luck

Hi,

My Toshiba Satellite has that icon on the taskbar, as you describe.
However, the various settings do not include corners and borders.

Thank you to everyone that tried to help me resolve this issue. I took the
laptop back to the retailer and the tech person spent about 2 hours looking
and trying and updating. Nothing corrected the problem. Under the Mouse
applet in one place it showed that there was a synaptic mouse and another it
just showed a "standard" mouse. The retailer finally just gave me a new
computer since I had only had it a couple of weeks.

Again, thanks to all.
