My currently contact list is on an old email address and I would like to move
it to a new hotmail email. What is the easiest way to transfer all my
contacts to a new user account?

Greetings,

The easiest [and only] way is just to export the list on the old address and import on the
new.

Just open the main Messenger window, click the Contacts menu (or press Alt-C if the
menu is hidden) and select Save Instant Messaging Contacts (Save Contact List in previous
versions), save the file to your Desktop and then sign into the new account. In the new
account, just open the Contacts menu again and choose Import Instant Messaging Contacts,
select the file and you're done.

Your contacts will be prompted to add the new address to their lists and unfortunately you'll
have to recreate your groups.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping for some 'super secret' way to maintain
the contacts without them having to 're-accept'. I'll just look at this as a
great way to clean out my list of people I never talk to. I'll always have
the old user if I need to look up someone who didn't accept my new request.

Hi,

Yeah, I've tried fishing around for the old capacity to do this but it doesn't seem to exist
anymore. Some spring cleanup is always a good thing
