Hi,

How can I transfer my emails in Outlook 2003 (old computer) to Outlook 2007
(new computer).

I have tried to use Belkin's Easy Transfer Cable, but the easy transfer
software doesn't run on my XP (SP2) computer. Program starts, and then it
just hangs and I can't do anything with it... Just close it through Task
Manager

So how can I import/export my emails ?

Thanks !

Vincent

Start Outlook on the old computer. File>Export - follow the Export
Wizard to export your emails (and contact, calendar, notes if desired)
to a .pst file. Save the exported file somewhere you will find it. Now
put the .pst file on whatever media you have that is large enough to
hold it - usb thumbdrive, burned cd-r, dvd-r. Take that media to your
new computer. Copy the .pst file to your User directory; in your
Documents folder is a good choice. You might need to make sure the file
isn't read-only and that you own it. Right-click it and look at its
Properties.

Start Outlook on the new computer. File>Import - follow the Import
Wizard to import the .pst file saved in your Document folder.

For more questions about using Outlook, please post in one of the
Outlook newsgroups such as microsoft.public.outlook or
microsoft.public.outlook.general.

Please QUOTE the post you are replying to. Thank you.

Close Outlook and copy the pst file. Paste it to your Documents folder on
the new machine. Then open Outlook and do File-Open-Outlook Data File and
navigate to where you out it.

For future reference:
How to backup and restore Outlook

http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/backupandrestore.htm
http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/as...771141033.aspx

There is out-dated information on some of these pages, specifically with
regard to Outlook 2003 and 2007.

The main points to note:
1. Do NOT use the import/export function to move Outlook data from one
version to another - all you need to do is to copy the pst file, with
Outlook closed.

2. Do NOT paste the copied pst file into the default location - paste into
(for example) your Documents folder and then do File-Open-Outlook Data File
within Outlook.

Outlook 2003 ran just fine on my Vista Home Premium.
Under what assumption did you "have " to upgrade to Ultimate?
