Hi

Can someone please help. I would like to transfer all my emotions/winks from
my old laptop to my new one, I have an external hard drive but do not know
where to find them to save them.

Please help.

Thanks

Greetings,

As long as you're using Windows Live Messenger 8.1 all you have to do is copy the files over.

On Windows XP the files are located here:
\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Messenger\LIVEID\ObjectStore

On Vista, the files are located here:
\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Messenger\ LIVEID\ObjectStore

Where USERNAME is your Windows username and LIVEID is your Windows Live ID/Passport e-mail
address (like ).

Just shut down Messenger, copy over the files to the new ObjectStore location, restart
Messenger and you're set.

Hi

Thanks for the responce but it I don't have that file. My old laptop runs on
XP version 8.1 and my new laptop is vista. Have looke don both of them just
to try and locate the file even though I only need to do old to new but
cannot find it at all and when i do a search, copying and pasting your
instructions(but adding my username etc in) it tells me it is not valid.

I can get to the msn program files but the file you said is not there.

Please help

Thanks

Hi,

My apologies, I forgot to mention that some of these folders are hidden by default and you
have to make a change to display them.

To do so, in any folder window, click the Tools menu (in Vista, hit Alt-T on the keyboard),
choose Folder Options, click the View tab, choose 'Show hidden files' and click OK.
