How many times can you transfer your vista upgrade lic. to a new computer ?
its not being use on the old computer. Had it on one pc then that pc died a
few months
later transfer to a new pc. which got stolen. got new laptop and was
wondering if I can still use that upgrade lic on new computer.

You are permitted to make a one (1) time transfer
of an upgrade license to a different computer.

You can probably transfer it more times. Just call Microsoft, tell them
that Vista is only being used on one computer and they should reactivate.
No problem.

If your laptop was stolen, then so was the Vista
Ultimate license. So, you really do not have a
license to transfer.

How would getting a Mac solve your problem? It will just create a whole
new batch of problems.
