Hi, I am an new use of VISTA Home Premium and have a question about a recent
change that has happened to my system. When I am on the start-up page and
RIGHT click to get properties / options, the menu is clear / transparent and
when I move my mouse to where a command / option / function / ... is, the
text appears in Black. This is something new that happened recently, the
text use to appear in BLACK (not transparent) when I right clicked (and
didn't move the mouse to the appropriate area) so I must have changed a
setting and would appreciate help how to RE-SET the setting so that the text
appears in color NOT transparent?
Thanks, Bob

Control Panel, Personalizations, open 'Windows Color and Appearance', then
click 'open classic appearance properties...' click Advanced button, set
ITEM dropbox to Menu, Click Font: Color: dropbox and set it to something
besides the menu background color.

Instead of messing about like that, reapplying the default Aero Theme should
sort everything out.

Thanks for the prompt reply Mark, I could NOT find Personalization but
found Appearance & Personalization with options of Change Desktop background,
Customize colors and adjust screen resolution. I could not locate Open
Classic Appearance Properties?
Thanks,
Bob

Hello Bob,
Here is the combination of what both Mark and Synapse meant :

Right click on an open space of your desktop,
Click Personalize,
Click 1st selection at the top of the list : Windows Color and
Appearance,
Click Default. ( If you want, un-check Enable Transparency )

Click screenshot link for illustration.

Go further down: click Open classic appearance properties for more
color options,
Under Color Scheme, click windows aero

'customize colors' should take you to the font color setting. Are you afraid
to click something? You will never be able to adjust a system you don't
explore.

Hi t-4-2,

Right click on an open space of your desktop, -- OK
Click Personalize, --OK
Click 1st selection at the top of the list : Windows Color and
Appearance --OK
Click Default. ( If you want, un-check Enable Transparency ) -- It was
UnChecked so I left it alone

Click screenshot link for illustration.
'ImageGrotto: Free Image and Screenshot Hosting'

Go further down: click Open classic appearance properties for more
color options --OK
Under Color Scheme, click windows aero --AERO WAS already selected

I believe that I followed ALL the steps that you outlined but still get a
transparent menu selection. When I fist got my system (Lenovo
Desktop-Windows VISTA Premium Home), the )black) text appeared as it should
so I have to assume that I somehow inadvertently changed a setting
somewhere. Any other suggestions?
This is not a Showstopper but certainly is a nuisance? Thanks, Bob
